Year 11 celebrate the Centre Of Excellence Award!
Welcome to the Geography Department website of Braunton Academy. We are proud of Geography here in North Devon and hope that our students are too! Please use the links at the top right to navigate this site!
We are currently part of the Humanities department. At KS4 we follow the AQA A course. We run fieldtrips to Westward Ho! where we study coastal processes and look at human interaction. At KS3 we look at a varied selection of modules / units of work and build upon these at KS4.
The school and department has recently been involved with the Erasmus Project. This has led to visitations and teacher exchanges to our partner schools in Austria, France, Martinique and Spain and India. Since 2010 we have also run trips to Martinique and to Las Vegas with whom we have developed school links
We are proud to have recently be awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark recognising the department as delivering quality geography! Not only this we also had the honour of being recognised as a centre of excellence!
